A Night at the Theater - Page 2

After we dispatched the undead, we returned inside to discuss the events.  Damien made a long winded speech about prepared to fight more evil and how to train for it.  Obviously, I had to correct him on a few points of military tactics.

As he was speaking, the Dread Lord Morthius appeared.  Morthius was able to slay Damien in seconds and we were unable to stop him.  We attacked the evil one, but he escaped.  Here is the actual transcript of what happened. What? You don't believe I had time to write all this down and fight Morthius?  Fools, I am no average warrior!

Morthius: An Mani
You see Morthius attacking Damien Vryce!

Morthius: Kal Ort Por
Morthius: I don't die that easy.
You see: a corpse of Damien Vryce
Cerberus: hot damn more fun
Jennifer: Sorry gentlemen....
Auvrai Ansgot: Holy Heavens
Birmingham: ...
Jennifer: He was a murderer..

And with that, Damien Vryce was dead.

Personally, I find Cerberus statement, 'hot damn more fun' reflecting a certain admirable attitude lacking in some of the worrying types present at the time (Rial...).

Jennifer, the hostess, seemed oblivous to the dead body on the floor and prattled on about a lottery or some such silliness.

We soon learned that Damien's soul itself had been stolen by Morthius.  Morthius returned to taunt us.  Since is holding Damien's soul, we dared not kill him.  If Morthius is killed, Damien's soul is lost.
As the situation sunk in, I returned inside to ponder the cause of this chaos.  After a bit of talking, I found out that Damien has a crush on Kaylin al'Thor (uncommon last name, eh?), but alas, Kaylin is married.  The lust in Damien's heart broke his Paladin's mind into ity-bity pieces.  In this sorry state, Morthius found it easy to steal his soul.

Make sense?  Too bad, I'm not going into it any deeper.

A few nights later a meeting was held at the YMCA to get Damien's soul back.  Kaylin, feeling responsible for not being a adultress, led the proceedings.
As I have mentioned before, sound travels poorly in our world and I could hear nothing of the proceedings.  I decided to wander about making small talk with the others while I waited for the hemming and hawwing to wrap up.  At one point, one TOF paladin, Blacky, slew another TOF paladin, Parrallax.  Not sure why.  But I guess Damien wanted another ghost to pal around with.  The talking, book reading, emoting, and walking in circles went on for a long time.
Finally, the task was announced.  Go to Trinsic and find a person named Balthazar.  Off we went to find this annoying drunk.  Why do the drunks of our land always hold the valuable information?

He finally told us to go to Hyloth to do something. Parrallax's ghost started talking and I was the only one that could speak to spirits.  He said we had to leave soon.  I wasn't clear on the details, I just opened gates to Hyloth and off we went.

Once we arrived in Hyloth, another powerful creature took control of me.  More fearsome than "The Wife", "The Baby" loudly requested my attention.  I was forced to leave the dungeon and retrieve the Supremely Full, Bottle of Feeding (8 ounces) to calm the angry "Baby."

Upon my return to Hyloth, I found no one but Kaizan.  We could find no trace of the others.  So we spent a while cleaning out the third level of Hyloth.  I enjoyed this immensely.  Our actions spoke louder than words.

What?  You want to know what happened to the Quest for Damien's soul?  Why are you asking me?  I missed it.  Go to the YMCA and ask for yourself!
